Lease Auto Chip Tuning

If a chip just gave me power at WOT I'd find that rather useless for anything except nutso driving-which I LIKE but which I can't be doing 95% of the time. I'd like a chip to give me the 'sweet spot' when I'm pulling 3,000-4,500 rpm. Also if a chip is leaning out at WOT and you are adding boost to the turbo, that sounds ver-y risky. Whether your vehicle has stock ECU tuning or aftermarket modifications, our performance chip will adapt to your modifications and provide the tune necessary for your vehicle’s individual setup. All performance chips are dyno and road tested. No wire cutting wires or tools needed to install our performance chip.

Lease Auto Chip Tuning Reviews

Well you're a bit of a c**t. Simple. This.
Why would you want to remap a car that doesn't belong to you anyway.
That's what loads of people are doing.
There's a big market for the piggyback tuning kits they can remove and sell on one their lease is up.
It's not right though and I'm glad when people get caught out.
They know it's wrong but still take the risk. It's a big risk when you are gambling over £30,000.

Anyone had a lease car remapped whether it be a tuning box or ecu remap?
Particularly a VW or anything from the VAG group
Could you? Yes you could do it.
Should you? No of course not. As has been said its not your car so don't bother, can you imagine the hassle if found out? Being stuck with a car where the warranty is in dispute that you are liable for, without even having equity in the car?
A lease car is a tool, a nice one granted, but simply a tool to help you get about. It is not your car and never will be. Don't think of it as your car and just treat for what it is: someone else's property that you will have to give back in good condition.

big no no with lease cars.
Lease companies generally have water tight contracts which don't allow mods.
Out of interest what car is it? You do know that if it's a golf r there's the td1 flag to get around
interesting info on td1 for those unfamiliar

This.
Why would you want to remap a car that doesn't belong to you anyway.
A lot of people with lease cars like to believe the car does belong to them.

I recall a thread on here a year or so ago when a chap had a warranty claim on his Seat or Skoda car rejected because the dealer found out it had been remapped. That would be a bad situation whether the car was owned or leased, but his was a lease car and I think that once the lease comoany got involved his options became very limited and very expensive.
By the way, I am allowed to post on this thread because I did have a plug in tuning box fitted to one of my cars which was leased.

If you do it and get caught. not sure what would happen, but I can't imagine it would be cheap. Let us know when you do get found out though, I like a laugh.

I'm not sure this went the way the OP expected. He expected back slapping 'do it mate' comments.
But in reality, its a long term rental with terms and conditions, it's not yours. Next.

As long as you don't whinge if you're caught out having to cough up for a warranty claim then why not. No, technically you shouldn't, but if you're prepared to accept the possible consequences of your actions then fair enough. Declare it to the insurers, return the car to standard before it goes back.

Loads of people do this with Fiesta STs, probably mostly down to mountune's map being ford approved and warranty safe ectect, but many don't get mountune. Not heard any horror stories yet
Friday 28th October 2016
Talk to the lease company - in some cases (especially if it is a company car) they may refer you back to the fleet manager for your firm. If the firm is happy with the risk then you may get the nod.
Either way you are risking the warranty on a new car - it's just not worth it.
Friday 28th October 2016
I would have thought the risk is of having to buy the car?

Modified car stops working. Goes to dealer to get it looked at. They can't fix, escalate to Seat UK who invalidate the engine & ECU warranty. As he's also breached the terms of his finance arrangement, they want the outstanding balance paid in 28 days, or the (now broken) car returned to them in good original working condition.
So I guess if you're comfortable that that sort of eventuality, then by all means go ahead and modify your lease car.

Got a free 24 hour Revo map on a demo Skoda Roomster I borrowed and took to a show once. It was considerably better driving home than it was driving there..

Exactly this.
I technically didn't own my previous VW Scirocco but that didn't stop me lowering it and changing the aloys. I thought of a remap myself but i was too scared of the consequences.
I will add that i'd NEVER do any of it again. I found myself worrying alot when driving it just incase anything happened. They also made a point of asking about it when i had it serviced.

Remaps and tuning boxes are detectable on Golf R's from what I have read, the ECU logs peak boost pressures and other stuff, regardless of how they were attained, it reads from its sensors and logs the info and if it is outside the defined range of values, i.e. probably bar/psi then it flags it up, VAG are aware this is a big thing on their models, I get this at work with people saying they didn't do something yet their access and commands are in the log I am looking at, computers are good at diligently recording stuff like that.
This is my main bugbear with leasing, if I get a Golf R or similar, of course I will want to fanny about with it, they are quick but another 70 or so bhp is easily, and cheaply available but it isnt my car, and I would only be keeping it two years or so.
Better to buy a two year old one yourself and mess with it to your hearts content, oh and notify your insurance as that gets invalidated if you dont let them know and they subsequently find out its been modified.
Thing is, loads of people around that can pay the £250 or so a month, scrape together £1500 for the deposit and £300 for the bloke with the laptop to remap it and hey presto, 370 bhp car, properly fast car for not a lot of money, plus its a Golf, win win, but sadly, no you cant modify what you dont own, if you lent your car to someone and they messed with it, would you be happy ?
Get 25k together and buy one ? funny how nobody can do that !

'this opens a VERY big can of worms as not many people buy a car outright in CASH (other than s who pave driveways for a living), so in essence they could stop you from doing anything to a vehicle unless you own it in full.'
Why would you EVER think it would be fine carry out all of that work to a vehicle that you didn't own? Not only that, but to also get annoyed and suggest that SEAT are the ones 'throwing their toys out of the pram'?!

Super Chip Tuning

I might be missing something (I've never bought a new car so admittedly I'm not particularly clued up on the small print of these arrangements), but how could anyone possibly be surprised at this outcome?

Chip Tuning Srbija

I am genuinely surprised that so many of them are surprised!
Friday 28th October 2016
Not sure why people do this.
Well im handing it back so I dont give a fk sort of attitude.
Its not your car to fk around with.
Use it as you bought it - if you want to fk around with it then buy it outright.
Friday 28th October 2016
If you remap it then
1. If it breaks they warranty won't be any use (expect a bill for £10k)
2. When they find out (which they will) they will expect you to buy the car for full market valeu or they will sue you for their losses
An R is plenty quick enough when stock.
Otherwise just buy a car you can afford, you plank.
